Európa északi régióját gyakran emlegetjük a modern családalapítás pozitív mintájaként, ahol stabilan magas gyermekvállalási kedv jellemző. Az utóbbi évtizedben azonban ezekben az országokban is elkezdett csökkeni a gyermekvállalás, és ugyan Izland, Dánia és Svédország teljes termékenységi arányszáma még mindig megelőzi az európai országok többségét, Norvégia visszacsúszott az európai középmezőnybe, míg Finnország az alsó harmadba.

Demográfiai tél: idősödő társadalom, népességfogyás és átalakuló városok

Folytatódó urbanizáció és tovább hízó metropoliszok

Japán ma a fejlett világ egyik legfontosabb laboratóriuma, ha látni akarjuk, hogy mi történik egy idősödő és radikálisan csökkenő népességű országgal. Japán ugyanis nem most szembesült a kihívással, évek óta fontos közéleti téma az úgynevezett demográfiai tél, annak következményei és az ehhez való alkalmazkodás. Egy új nemzetközi tanulmány arra tett kísérletet, hogy megvizsgálja: mit jelent ez az urbanizációban és hogyan lehet összhangba hozni a fenntartható fejlődés céljaival. Elsőként a Japán példát alapul véve gondolták végig a megoldandó problémákat, illetve az ebben rejlő lehetőségeket.

Elöregedés, elvándorlás, elnéptelenedés – így hatnak Európára a demográfiai folyamatok

Hol élnek az európai idősek és hol fognak élni 2050-ben? Hogyan alakíthatja át Európa régióinak életét az idősödés és az elnéptelenedés? Hol jelennek meg új törésvonalak a demográfiai folyamatok következtében? Ezekre a kérdésekre keresi a válaszokat az Európai Bizottsághoz tartozó Közös Kutatóközpont (JRC) májusban kiadott kutatási jelentése. Az Európai Unió területeinek demográfiai tájképéről szóló beszámoló a 2015-2050-es időszakot vizsgálva mutatja be és vetíti előre az európai népesség elöregedéséből fakadó kihívásokat.
