The research endeavour to critical mapping and summarizing of the Hungarian Gipsy studies between 1890 and 2007. The main field of such researches has been in the first part of the period the ethnography meanwhile in the last part of it the sociology and the anthropology. There has been significant role of a discipline with more vague border namely „gipsylogy” or „romanology”. It is worthy to have a look at the researches of the history, the musicology, the criminology and the economics as well. The research report through the investigate of the scientific discourse about the Romas at the same time attempt to be a social history of the Hungarian Romas.
